OPI Suzi Needs a Loch-smith: Blogstravaganza Fall 2019

Suzi-Needs-a-Loch-smith-bottle

We’re only at post #4 in my series on the OPI Scotland collection, but… it’s here, it’s finally here, my beloved burnt orange! I think it is a real testament to my willpower that I did not wear this one first. Because there are so many purples in the collection, I tried to come up with an order that did not have me wearing two in a row and this lovely, burnt pumpkin got pushed back a little in the lineup. I actually had worn it before this post, I lied, wore it for the skittle mani I did in September. Did you really expect my willpower to truly be that good? Please. This gorgeous, fall-in-a-bottle orange has a name that I feel like OPI came up with and just stuck it with whatever color they did not already have an idea for. Why is Suzi Needs a Loch-smith orange, shouldn’t it be blue or something more lake-y? No ginger jokes for the orange polish? It’s Scotland for crying out loud. They definitely could have done better in the name department. But in the formula department… mmm, it does not get better than this, friends!

OPI Nailed it by a Royal Mile: Blogstravaganza Fall 2019

OPI Nailed it by a Royal Mile, 2 coats plus top coat

Happy Sunday everyone! We’re back with post #3 in my series on the OPI Scotland collection. Today I have one of the “exclusives” of the collection, Nailed it by a Royal Mile. Both exclusives dry in a matte finish and, to be honest, should have been part of the full collection! I like a collection that mixes up the finishes. This one brings the purple count up to four, so I hope all the purple lovers out there are satisfied! Nailed it by a Royal Mile looks blue in a lot of my photos and, while it is a bluer purple as opposed to a red-er purple, it is definitely 100% purple. I tried so hard to find a light set up where the color appeared accurate, but this polish wasn’t going to give me a win.

OPI Grabs the Unicorn by the Horn: Blogstravaganza Fall 2019

OPI-Grabs-the-Unicorn-by-the-Horn-bottle

In part two of my exploration of the OPI Scotland Collection, we look at what is probably one of my favorites: OPI Grabs the Unicorn by the Horn. It’s a dusty, teal-ish denim-y blue that I would swear I had a dupe for, but as you will see from my pathetic selection of comparisons, it stands on its own in my collection. As someone who easily has more blues than any other color, this is saying a lot. My only complaint at this point is the name: when OPI puts “OPI” at the beginning of the shade name, I go into a panic. Do I call it “OPI OPI Grabs the Unicorn by the Horn” for the sake of consistency or do I forgo sounding like an idiot and get rid of the first “OPI” because it’s clear that it’s an OPI polish? Arrgggggghhhhh. The agony. Why you gotta do me like that, OPI? (How many times can I say OPI in one paragraph? OPI.)

OPI A Little Guilt Under the Kilt: Blogstravaganza Fall 2019

A-Little-Guilt-Under-the-Kilt-bottle

Just like the 90s, we’re going to be seeing lots of plaid this series!

Welcome to the first post of my OPI Blogstravaganza. This fall, instead of doing my fall favorites series on new fall releases, I am going to be doing individual posts on all eleven polishes I nabbed from the OPI Scotland collection. I absolutely adore Scotland, I’m a huge Celtic fan (why did they let Tierney go to Arsenal, WHY???), a huge Walker’s shortbread fan, and I actually was in the country for a little over 4 days in July of 2016. The names of these polishes are so clever and, paired with a palette of fall colors, my favorite kind of color palette, I knew I had to get every single one I even slightly liked. I will be doing a full review on each polish and try to include a vacation photo or two that is at least slightly relevant to the polish. We are starting off with A Little Guilt Under the Kilt. It’s no where near as a good a name as Yank My Doodle or Show Us Your Tips, but it is a bit naughty so I applaud it for making me smile. OPI says “focus on the real jewel – an amazing red nail polish,” which is a completely unhelpful description. It’s a deeper red metallic. I would not call it wine or burgundy, but it’s not a bright cherry red.

OPI Tokyo Collection VoxBox

**All polishes, base coat, and top coat were sent to me complimentary from Influenster for testing and review purposes. All opinions are my own.**

Everyone makes mistakes. I think Influenster certainly did when they sent me this VoxBox! I remember taking a survey related to OPI and being super excited, hoping I would finally get something nail polish related (none of my VoxBoxes since my first one have had anything nail). When I got the box, I excitedly tore it open to find… gels? I have never used or even worn a gel polish in my life! I did not even have a light! And, apparently, OPI gels are not super readily available. OPI won’t even sell them to you on their website unless you have a pro account. I do not know what I did to make Influenster think I was the target audience for this, but I’m actually glad it happened. I have had a fear of gel polish and I hope this is the first tiny baby step towards conquering that fear.
